You need a file, cuticle stick, Acetone and cotton pads. Also foil or gel polish remover clips(if you do it regularly) 

First file your nail gently especially the tips of your nails to remove the shine. Next soak a cotton pad use half for small nails with Acetone. Wrap a square piece of foil or nail clip securely around your nail. Continue on one hand wait 10 mins for a light colour. Or 15 mins for a darker colour. Now pull off very slowly scraping any leftover with a Cuticle stick
